Detailed Solution

Baba Ramachandra led the peasants in Awadh.
The Awadh peasant movement was started simultaneously when the Non-Cooperation Movement began all over India. The peasants of Awadh were in huge problems because they did not get payment from landlords and merchants and had no rights over the leased land. Hence Baba Ramachandra, who had been indentured labour in Fiji, took the initiative to lead the peasants in Awadh. Consequently, they boycotted the landlord and talukdars. In addition, peasants demanded abolishing the begar, reducing the forced revenue, changing the system of governing leaders, releasing the payments of peasants and labourers, and selling the grains at a nominal price to all. Moreover, many panchayats initiated nai-dhobi bandhs depriving the landlords of the services of washermen and barbers.
