Detailed Solution

Seasonality of work in many industries meant prolonged periods without work.
Seasonality of work refers to the scenario where workers were not employed permanently. They sought work only when the demand for production increased. This condition occurred in industries of  England many times. The workers were rendered jobless for prolonged periods. When the peak production season was over, the workers returned to the streets again. They searched for menial jobs for sustenance. Some workers returned to the countryside, where job opportunities opened up in villages. Until the mid-nineteenth century, permanent jobs were tough to find for the workers. The job seekers had to face adverse conditions during this period.
