Detailed Solution

Myopia and Hypermetropia can be corrected by using concave and convex lenses respectively.
Myopia is caused due to excessive curvature of the eye lens or a decrease in the focal length of the eye lens and elongation of the eyeball. It occurs when the eye causes light rays to refract incorrectly, focusing images in front of the retina instead of on the retina. The concave lens assists in moving the image back to the retina, thus helping the person get a clearer vision. Hypermetropia is caused when the focal length of the eye is too long, and the eyeball becomes short so that light rays from nearby objects cannot be brought to focus. That’s why the convex lens converges the light rays to form the final image on the retina.
