Detailed Solution

A fuse is a safety device based on the heating effect of electric current.
A fuse is a safety device which prevents damage to an electric circuit. It is a short wire usually made of tin and lead alloy and has a low melting temperature. It is connected in series in an electric circuit. During a short circuit, the current in the circuit rises abruptly to the maximum amount, and due to the heating effect of the electric current, the fuse wire gets overheated and melts, which breaks the circuit, and the supply of electricity is stopped. In this way, it helps in the prevention of short circuits.
