Given, even number =2n.
The odd number preceding 2n=2n-1.
The odd number succeeding 2n=2n+1.
According to the given condition,
2n-1+2n+1=96 ⇒4n=96 ⇒n=964=24
Now, 2n-1.
=2×24-1=47
And, 2n+1.
=2×47+1=49
