Mass of alloy = 1kg = 1000g.
% of copper = 30%.
% of Nickel = 42%.
% of Zinc = Total percentage – ( % of copper + % of nickel).
% of Zinc is,

⇒ 100 − 30 + 42 %

⇒ 100 − 72 % ⇒ 28 %

Now,
Mass of Zinc in 1Kg of alloy

= 28 % of 1Kg

⇒ 28 % of 1000g

⇒ 28100 × 1000 g ⇒ 280 g
