3 x + 5 y − 12 = 0 … (i) 5 x + 3 y − 4 = 0 … (i i)

For unique solution

a 1 a 2 ≠ b 1 b 2

∵ 35 ≠ 53 [unique solution]

On solving the above two equations, we get

x = − 1, y = 3
