Detailed Solution

Given, 4.5 g of an alloy of copper and zinc contains 3.5 g of copper.
The ratio of weight of copper to the zinc is 4.53.5=97.
Given, the weight of alloy is 18.9.
Let the common ratio be x.
So, 9x + 7x = 18.9.
x = 1.18125 g
So the weight of copper in the alloy is 9x =  9×1.18125 = 14.7 g.
Hence, option 1 is correct.
