When the current is turned on, the magnetised iron core attracts the hammer towards itself, and the hammer strikes the gong, which produces sound. When the hammer moves to strike the gong, the circuit is broken, and the iron core is demagnetised, which returns the hammer to its original position. After returning the hammer, the circuit again gets closed, and the process is repeated again and again.
