Presbyopia is the defect of vision in which the eye lens loses its power of accommodation due to old age.
Presbyopia always develops with ageing due to the eye's loss of accommodation capacity. A person with this impairment cannot distinguish between close and remote objects.
The ciliary muscles of the eye lens begin to weaken as we age, resulting in the vision deficiency known as presbyopia. Ages 40 and over are when presbyopia becomes noticeable.
