HYV stands for "high yielding variety." They are the type of hybrid seeds used during the Green Revolution. The Green Revolution was started in the late 1960s, and it helped farmers produce a high amount and quality of yield. It was first introduced in Punjab, Haryana, and the regions of Western Uttar Pradesh. They produced better and better quality crops with the help of HYV seeds, a better irrigation system, and chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
