Detailed Solution

A reserved constituency is reserved for Scheduled Tribes and Castes in both Parliamentary and Assembly Elections.
A reserved constituency is one in which seats are reserved for the weaker sections - scheduled castes (Sc) and scheduled tribes (ST) - based on the size of their population. Reserved constituencies are necessary because the weaker sections may lack the necessary contacts, education, and other resources to contest and win elections against others. This system of Reserved Constituencies (84 seats for the Scheduled Castes and 47 seats for the Scheduled Tribes in Lok Sabha) transforms our democracy into a truly representative democracy. The values emphasised by our Constitution makers in developing this policy are their desire to bring everyone in society on the same platform. As a result, they advocated for the value of 'equality for all.'
