A convex mirror is a spherical reflecting surface in which its bulging aide faces the light source.
In street light reflectors, a convex mirror is used because it can spread light over bigger areas. They are also used to make ceiling dome mirrors and telescopes etc.
When curved mirrors have a reflecting surface on the outside, they are called convex mirrors. (vex stands for bulging out). The image formed by a convex mirror is a virtual image located behind the mirror. If the object is placed far away from the mirror, the image will be upright and positioned at the focal point. As the object comes closer to the mirror, the image also approaches the mirror and grows until its height equals that of the object.
