Detailed Solution

Given that,
The height of Flagstaff =20 m long,
Angle of elevation of the foot and top of flagstaff = 30 °   and 60 ° .   We draw diagram,
Question ImageWe use the trigonometric identity,
tanθ= perpendicular base
We get the value of BC from ΔABC  ,
tan 60 ° = AB BC 3 = AB BC [tan 60 ° = 3 ] BC= AB 3     BC= AD+DB 3 .....(i)
We get the value of DB from ΔDBC  ,
tanα= DB BC tan 30 ° = DB BC DB=tan 30 ° ×BC.........(ii)
Substituting the value of BC in equation (ii),
DB=tan 30 ° ×BC   DB= 1 3 × AD+DB 3 [tan 30 ° = 1 3 ]   DB= AD+DB 3   3×DB=AD+DB   3DBDB=AD 2DB=AD 2DB=20 DB=10
Thus the height of tower is Question Imagem.
Therefore the correct option is 2.
