Detailed Solution

Fe(OH)3 is peptidized to create a positively charged colloidal sol.

By adding an appropriate electrolyte, a precipitate is transformed into colloidal particles during the peptidization process.

The freshly precipitated ferric hydroxide is mixed with a tiny amount of ferric chloride solution to create a reddish brown tinted colloidal solution.

Since Fe3+ ions are shared by the lattice of Fe(OH)3 particles, which gives colloidal particles in the solution a positive charge, Fe(OH)3 has a tendency to adsorb Fe3+ ions in the solution preferentially

Hence the correct option is C.
