Concept:
Let the distance between two ports be

x

km.
And the speed of the boat in still water is

S

km/hr.
As,

Distance = Speed \times Time

Then, According to question,
In downstream,

x = (S + 2) \times 4 . . . . . . . . (1)

Similarly,
In upstream,

x = (S - 2) \times 5 . . . . . . . . (2)

From (1) & (2),

(S + 2) 4 = (S - 2) 5

4 S + 8 = 5 S - 10

S = 18 km / hr .

Hence, the correct answer is option 2.
