A boat is floating on a lake. The force acting on the boat in the upward direction is buoyant force.
When an object is partially or fully immersed in the liquid, an upward force acts on the object. This force acting on the object equals the weight of the liquid displaced by the object. When the object's weight is less than the buoyant force acting on the object, the object will float on the liquid.
