A body is said to be in motion if it changes its position continuously with respect to a fixed point, taken as a reference point in its surroundings, with the passage of time.
Any object is said to be either in the state of motion or in the state of rest. When the object changes position of an object with respect to a fixed reference starting point, with respect to the person observing it and with the passage of time, it is said to be in motion. The state of the rest of an object is in the same position with respect to the origin, with respect to the person viewing it and with the passage of time.
