Detailed Solution

It is given that a boy standing on a horizontal plane finds a bird flying at a distance of 100 m   from him at an elevation of 30 °  and girl standing on the roof of a 20 m   high building, the elevation of the same bird to be 45 °  .
Let the boy, girl and bird be at B, E and C respectively.
Let BC be the distance between bird and boy and CE be the distance between bird and girl BC=100m and CE=x  .
Let DE be the height of the building on which the girl is standing i.e., DE=FA=20m  .
Let CA=y   and FC=y20  .
Let the angle of inclination to the from the boy and girl be 30 °   and 45 °   respectively.
In ΔABC  ,
sin 30 ° = AC AB
1 2 = y 100
y=50m
In ΔCFE  ,
sin 45 ° = CF CE
1 2 = y20 x
x=(5020) 2
x=42.42m
Hence, the distance between bird and girl is 42.42m  .
Therefore, option 3 is correct.
