Detailed Solution

A broad trough of low pressure in equatorial latitudes is known as ITCZ. The broad low-pressure trough where the trade winds (both northeast and southeast) converge is known as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), lying near the equator, from 5° N to 5° S. The global pressure and wind circulation system has the ITCZ as an inevitable component. The convergence of the trade winds in this area results in the equatorial region being prone to heavy rains and thunderstorms. The ITCZ moves concerning the Sun’s position. It migrates over the land, moving over Asia, Africa, and Central America during July-August before it moves towards the south to central Africa, South America, and Australia in the months of January-February.
