Detailed Solution

Oxygen gas is a supporter of burning. Thus, when a burning candle is covered with a tumbler, it burns until there is oxygen inside it, and after all oxygen is used, the candle extinguishes. After oxygen is used up, the tumbler still has the rest of the air components, as the air is a mixture of gases. The two major gases are nitrogen (78%) and oxygen (21%). After the consumption of oxygen, the air is left with nitrogen in the majority.
