Detailed Solution

A car moves with a speed of 40 km/hr for 15 min and then with a speed of 60 km/hr for the next 15 min, the total distance covered by the car is 25 km.
“Speed is defined as the ratio of distance covered by a body to the time taken by the body in covering that distance.” The formula of speed is given by,
Speed=DistanceTime
When the car moves at a speed of 40 km/hr for 15 min.
     Speed     =DistanceTime
             40=Distance1560
Distance=40×1560
Distance=10 km
When the car moves at a speed of 60 km/hr for 15 min.
     Speed     =DistanceTime
             60=Distance1560
Distance=15 km
The total distance covered by the car is equal to,
     Total distance    =10+15
Total distance=25 km
The total distance covered by the car is equal to 25 km.
