A cell at telophase stage is observed by a student in a plant brought from the field. He tells his teacher that this cell is not like other cells at telophase stage.There is no formation of cell plate and  thus the cell is containing  more  number of chromosomes as compared to other dividing cells. This would result in

Polyploidy: It is a condition in which the number of sets of chromosomes doubles within a cell. Failure of a cell to undergo karyokinesis after DNA replilcation and splitting of centromere leads to polyploidy.
(1) Soma clonal variations: Thousands of plants produced through tissue culture are genetically identical to the original plant from which they are grown, i.e., they are soma clones. Due to the infl uence of plant growth regulators and environmental conditions, some plants undergo mutation and exhibit new traits, referred to as soma clonal variations. Sometimes, these variants are superior to the existing ones.
(2) Polytene: In a process of endoreduplication, DNA replication continues but there is neither karyokinesis nor splitting of centromere. This leads to polytene.
(3) Aneuploidy: It is the presence of an abnormal number of chromosomes in a cell due to failure of disjunction during meiosis.
