Detailed Solution

The amount of work done on the trolley is 320 Joules.
Given, the initial velocity of the trolley, = 4 m/s
Final velocity of the trolley, = 0 m/s Distance travelled by the trolley, s = 16 m
From third equation of the motion,
v2-u2=2as
Acceleration of the trolley is given by,
           a = (v2-u2)2s            a = 0-(4)22×16
           a = 162×16
            a= -0.5 m/s2
Work done on the trolley by the force
W=Fs
W= mas
W= (35 + 5) × (0.5) ×16 W= 20 × 16
W= 320 J
Therefore, the amount of work done on the trolley is 320 Joules.
