Detailed Solution

It is given that the students of a class are standing in a row.
Let’s assume that the number of rows be x   and the number of students in a row be y.   Therefore the total number of students will be xy.   There was one lesser row if three extra students were in a row, therefore
xy= x1 y+3 xy=xyy+3x3 3xy=3                           (1)   There were two more rows if three fewer students were in a row, therefore
xy= x+2 y3 xy=xy+2y3x6 3x2y=6                       (2)   Subtracting equation (2) from equation (1), we get,
y+2y=3+6 y=9   3xy=3                             (using eq (1)) 3x9=3                             (y=9) x=4   Thus, the number of students in the class =xy= 4 9 =36.   Therefore there are 36 students in the class.
Hence option (3) is correct.
