Detailed Solution

Given Data:

concave mirror focal length:f=-2 cm

object distance:u=-1 cm

using mirror formula for image formation for image(1):

1f=1v+1u

Here, f=focal length

          v=Image distance from pole P

          u=object distance from pole P

1-2=1v+1-1  1v=1-2+11

v=+2 cm

so, image(1) will be form at +2 cm.

Now, find shift due to the glass slab:

=1-1μ t

Here,

=Shift

μ=refractive Index of glass slab

t=height of glass slab

=1-132·9

=3 cm

this shift due to glass slab gives the position of image(2).so Image (2) will forms at 3 cm from Image(1). that means Image(2) will forms at point O. Point O is behind the slab, so Image(2) will be virtual.
