Detailed Solution

Let f1 be the focal length of the convex lens and f2 that of the concave lens. Given f2=-10 cm and

P1P2=32 or f2f1=32

Since f2 is negative,  f2f1=-32 f1=-23f2

f1=-23×-10 =203 cm

 The focal length of the combination is given by

1F=1f1+1f2 =320-110 =120

which gives F =  20 cm.
