Given data in the problem,
Length of conductor, = 2L
We know that, = ρLA Resistance of conductor of length l and uniform area of cross-section A     R1=ρ1L1A1
R=ρ1LA Resistance of conductor of length 2l      R2=ρ2L2A2
R=ρ22LA2
As resistance remains same, Equating above equations we get,
R1=R2=R
ρ1LA=ρ22LA2
Density remains same in both cases as material doesn’t change.
ρLA=ρ2LA2      A2=2 A So, the cross section of the metal is 2 A.
