The volume of the cylindrical water column after the glass piece is put will be,

πr2h=800π+πr12h1

(or)r2h=800+r12h1

There are two shifts due to glass block as well as water

So,Δt1=(11μ0)t0=(113/2)8=2.26cm

and,Δt2=(11μw)tw=(114/3)(25.78)=4.44cm
