Detailed Solution

a) DNA copying: DNA copying is also known as DNA replication, it is the biological process of creating two identical copies of DNA from a single original DNA molecule.

Importance of DNA copying:

  1. It makes sure that each daughter cell produced at the end of cell division receives an identical amount of DNA.
  2. It generates variation during sexual reproduction which leads to evolution.
  3. It aids the transmission of information from parents to children.
  4. DNA is necessary to make all the RNA and proteins needed for cells to out necessary reactions.

 b)                                                                                                          OR

Gene is a basic physical and functional unit of heredity made up of DNA.

Every gene contains a particular set of instructions that tell cells to make molecules called proteins. Each gene carries some instructions that determine our features, such as eye colour, hair colour and height.

In the human body, genes are located in the chromosomes of cells. Two types of molecular genes are there; protein-coding genes and noncoding genes.
