Given, a door of length 2 m and breadth 1m is fitted in a wall. The length of the wall is 4.5 m and the breadth is 3.6 m.

Area of the rectangle = Length \times breadth

Area of the door = 2 \times 1 = 2 sq m

Area of the wall = 4.5 \times 3.6 = 16.2 sq m

So the remaining area = area of the wall - area of the door = 16.2 - 2 = 14.2 sq m.
Given the rate of whitewashing the wall is ₹20 per sq m.
So the cost for whitewashing the wall is

14.2 \times 20 = Rs . 284
