(a) Endemism means distribution of a taxon confined to a particular geographic area. Endemic species are those which are confined only to a particular region. Many amphibian species are endemic to Western Ghats of India. 
(b) India hosts 3 biodiversity hotspots which are;

1. The Himalayas
2. The Western Ghats
3. The Indo-Burman region
