Kushana was a dynasty that ruled over  Central Asia and North-West India and also had control over the Silk Trade Route. The ruler of the Kushana dynasty, Kanishka, was also a great patron of  Buddhism. Kanishka organised the fourth Buddhist council of the Sarvastivada tradition near Srinagar, Kashmir.
