Detailed Solution

A far-sighted person cannot see objects when placed closer than 50 cm. To see the objects at 20 cm the power of lens required is 3 D.
Given,                                                                                                                                                          Distance of object, u=-20 cm  and  image distance, v=-50 cm                                                                So, from lens formula :
1f= 1v-1u    Where f is the focal length of the lens, u is the object distance and v is the image distance.                                                                                                                             Therefore,                    1-0.5-1-0.2=3, we get-   Power, P=3 D.
