Number of animals in farmer’s cattle with provision for 9 days = 28.
Total number of animals after addition of 8 more animals = 36.
Number of days food last for 28 animals =9  days.
Let the number of days food last for 36 animals be x days.
Then,

We can clearly observe that, more the number of animals, less will be the number of days for which food lasts.
Therefore, this is the case of inverse proportion
As this is case of inverse proportion, therefore the product will remain constant throughout table that is,
28×9=x×36    Solving the equation,
36x=252 x= 252 36 x=7   Hence, food will last for 7 days if 8 more animals were added to the cattle.
