Detailed Solution

Given that the cuboid of dimensions (1 m×1 m×7 m)  , a cylinder of diameter 1 m  and height 7 m  and the rate to dig the well is Rs.50 per m 3  .
We have the following formulae,
Volume of cuboid =L×B×H   Volume of cylinder =π r 2 h
The volume of cuboidal well will be,
=1×1×7   = 7 m 3   The volume of cylindrical well will be,
22 7 × 1 2 × 1 2 ×7   = 11 2 m 3 =5.5  cm 3   The Cost of cuboidal well will be,
=7×50   = Rs.350
The Cost of cylindrical well will be,
=5.5×50   = Rs.275
The cost to dig both the wells will be,
=350+275
=Rs.625
Thus, the cost will be Rs.625.
Therefore the correct option is 4.
