Detailed Solution

Suppose share of eldest sons = z
Share of second sons = y
Share of third sons = x
Here, eldest son's share = 2× second son's share. So,
2y=z The share of the second son = 3× third son's share.
y=3x Now, second son gets Rs. 4000 more than 3rd son, so
y=x+4000 3x=x+4000          (since, y =3x)
2x=4000
x=2000  So, third son share, x=Rs.2000
Now, second son share
y=3x
y=Rs.6000
The share of eldest son,
z=2y
z=Rs.12000
So, the total money,
=x+y+z
=2000+6000+12000
=Rs.20000  Hence, the total value of property = Rs.20000  So, the correct answer is Option 2.
