It is given that a field can be grazed by 44 cows in 9 days.
We know that the two variables are said to be inversely proportional if and only if they are directly proportional to one another's reciprocal. If

x ∝ 1 y ⇒ x = k 1 y ⇒ x = k y,        where k is proportianality constant ⇒ x y = k .... (1)

Let the number of cows that graze a field in 12 days is

From the given data, we can draw a table as,

Since, on increasing the number of cows, there will be a decrease in the number of days, therefore this is a case of inverse proportion. Thus,

44 × 9 = x × 12 ⇒ x = 44 × 9 12 ⇒ x = 33

Therefore, 33 cows will graze the same field in 12 days.
