Abdul Ghaffar Khan supported Mahatma Gandhi and actively participated in the Civil Disobedience Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930. Abdul Ghaffar Khan was arrested in April 1930 for violating British laws. This event made the situation go out of control in Peshawar. Upon the arrest of Ghaffar Khan, the people in Peshawar came on the streets to demonstrate.They even faced armoured cars and police firings.
