Detailed Solution

If both the masses are tied together, the same force will provide an acceleration of 6 m/s2.
According to Newton’s second law of motion,
We know, = m a
                      = 5 N
Since = ma
Then
 m1 = F/a1
m2 = F/a2
if both the masses are tied together, then total mass
= m1 + m2
M=Fa1+Fa2
M=58+524
M=56 kg
Hence acceleration produced by the tied masses, i.e. total masses
=FM a=556
a=6 m/s2
