For arranging plants in such a way that have equal rows and columns hence, the number which is the perfect square next to 1000 is to be found.
.
We observe that 312=961  and 322=1024
Hence, the least perfect square greater than 1000 is 1024.
In order to find the number of plants that we need to plant more, we will subtract 1000 from 1024
1024-1000= 24
Therefore, the minimum number of plants needed are 24 plants.
