Detailed Solution

A girl stands on a box having 10 cm length, 40 cm breadth and 20 cm width in three ways in. The pressure exerted by the brick will be maximum when length and width form the base.
We know, Pressure=ForceArea
So, pressure will be maximum when the area will be minimum.
Here length =60 cm, breadth =40 cm and width =20 cm
Area of the base formed by length and breadth =60×40
=2400 cm2
Area of the base formed by breadth and width =40×20
=800 cm2
Area of the base formed by width and length =20×60
=1200 cm2
Here, the area of the base formed by breadth and width is minimum so, pressure will be maximum.
