James Mill released a book titled "The History of British India."
James Mill was a Scottish political and economic philosopher. He visited India and wrote about Indian History in the year 1817. The book was titled the History of British India. It was published in three-volume. In his work, James Mill made the periodisation of Indian History. It was the first time that Indian History was divided into periods. He separated the History of India into three distinct periods: Hindu, Muslim, and British. He characterised the period based on the dominant religion. It was based on the faith of the ruler. He presented that the Hindu and Muslim rulers were despotic and uncivilised. And British rule could civilise Indians through modern thoughts.
