Girth = 440 cm
The thickness of iron = 4 cm
Circumference of cylinder =

2 π r

The volume of the iron,

2 π r = 440 ⇒ 2 × 227 × r = 440 ⇒ r = 70 c m = r 1

And,

r 2 = 70 − 4 = 66 c m

The volume of hollow cylinder =

π (r 22 − r 12) h

Substituting the values to find the inner radius,

= 227 × (702 − 662) × 63 = 227 × 4 × 136 × 63 = 107712 c m 2
