Detailed Solution

Given, a labourer is engaged for 20 days on the condition that he will be given an amount of  ₹ 120 for each day he works and will be fined an amount of  ₹ 10 for each day he is   absent.
If the boy works all the days,
The amount he would get = Number of days×Wage of the day = 20×120 = 2400.
Let the number of days he is absent be x.
He received ₹ 1880. This means he didn’t get some amount as he was absent. Also he was charged for the absences. So we need to subtract from the full wage to get his salary.
Then, 2400-10x-120x=1880.
2400-130x=1880
130x = 520
x = 4
Hence, he was absent for 4 days.
Therefore, option 2 is correct.
