Given Saritha paid ₹ 27 for a book kept for seven days, while Susy paid ₹ 21 for the book, she kept for five days.
Fixed charge = x
Additional day charge = y
According to the question,
x+(7-3)y=27
x + 4y = 27
And, the other equation is,
x+(5-3)=21
x + 2y = 21
Using elimination method,
(x + 4y) - (x + 2y) = (27 - 21)
x + 4y - x - 2y = 27- 21
2y = 6
y= 6 2 y=3  
Now, finding the value of x,
x + 2(3) = 21
x + 6 = 21
x = 21-6
x = 15
Fixed charge = ₹ 15 and additional charge = ₹ 3.
Hence, option 1 is correct.
