A magazine charges Rs 300 per 10 sq.cm area for advertising. A company decided to order a half page advertisement. If each page of the magazine is 15cm × 24cm, then the amount the company will have to pay for it is Rs. 5400.
Given that length of each page of the magazine = 15 cm and breadth of each page of the magazine = 24 cm.
According to the given condition,
Area required for doing half page advertisement =

\frac{l \times b}{2}

=

\frac{15 \times 24}{2}

= 180
∴ Area required is 180 sq.cm
Cost for advertising 10 sq cm area is Rs.300
Cost for advertising 1 sq.cm =

\frac{300}{10}

= Rs. 30
Total amount for the advertisement = 30

\times

180
= 5400
Hence, the company has to pay Rs. 5400 for it.
