When a magnet AB is broken into two parts namely, AC and DB, then it can be said that C is the South and D is the North pole.
When a magnet breaks into different parts, all parts act as an independent magnet; at broken parts, opposite poles are created for the remaining parts of the magnet. It is so because a single-pole magnet doesn’t exist. Hence A and B will remain the same, and C will be opposite of A; that is, South and D will be North.
