He sells 95% of remaining $=\frac{95}{100}\times x\times \frac{98}{100}$

still he left with 5% of the remaining=$\frac{5}{100}\times x\times \frac{98}{100}$

55 of the remaining equals to 49

$\frac{5}{100}\times x\times \frac{98}{100}=49$
