A male child inherits X chromosome only from his mother. A female child inherits one X chromosome from each parent. If a man passes his X chromosome to each of his daughters. If he has a dominant allele that causes a disorder on his single X chromosome, it will be inherited by all his daughters who would eventually exhibit the disorder.
A daughter would exhibit an X-linked recessive disorder only when her mother is at least a carrier and father is affected. Y-linked disorders are seen only in males. If the woman is homozygous dominant, none of the children would suffer from the disorder.
